Whether it's the AT&T, the U.S. Open or the Concours D'Elegance, the stars often choose the Tap Room as a place to unwind — and it's also a favorite of those of us who aren't famous.
"It's the place to see celebrities," said Aven Wright-McIntosh, former public relations manager for the Pebble Beach Co. "It's also more casual — you can go inthere in your golf clothes."
The Tap Room was originally envisioned as a museum of Western golf, according to Pebble Beach Co. historian Neal Hotelling.
The Tap Room has been part of The Lodge at Pebble Beach since 1949, when it replaced a previous bar called Monkeyshines. Stepping into the Tap Room, with its classic oak paneling and green felt walls, can remind you of stepping back in time to a local tavern.

The Beach & Tennis Club at Pebble Beach
Although this is a private club, guests at the Pebble Beach resorts can reserve a table for lunch here, a short stroll from The Lodge. Beyond the glass wall of the dining room are vistas of Stillwater Cove, Carmel Bay and the 17th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links; inside, you'll find dishes with a gourmet twist, including such entrees as Dungeness crab-encrusted Chilean sea bass and duck confit and pear salad. Spyglass Hill Grill
One mile west of The Lodge next to the ninth green at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, this casual spot is perfect
Gallery Cafe at The Lodge
Conveniently located near the putting green and adjacent to the first tee of Pebble Beach Golf Links, the Gallery serves up home-style breakfasts and lunches as well as espresso drinks. Burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and salads are available, as well as milkshakes and malts. Information: 625-8577.

Stillwater Bar & Grill at The Lodge
You can gaze at the ocean while you sample its bounty at this contemporary restaurant. The seafood bar, which offers fresh oysters, littleneck clams, poached lobsters and prawns, is popular with visitors, but there are many other selections, including vegetarian options. Enjoy views of Carmel Bay and the 18th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links while having breakfast, lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch.
Club XIX at The Lodge
For sophisticated and elegant dinners, chef Ressul Rassallat has created a menu that borrows from traditions around the world. Entrees like Australian lamb and Nebraska ribeye, as well as wine and cheese pairings and special seasonal tastings are all part of the Club XIX experience, in addition to rare and vintage wines, cognacs and ports. Here, too, are beautiful views of the links and the bay, both from the restaurant and the outdoor patio. Information: 625-8519.
STICKS at The Inn at Spanish Bay
This "19th hole" establishment offers the opportunity to relax and sample a bounty of beverages and pub-style food while watching sports on TV. Sliders, nachos, firecracker prawns and buffalo wings are a few of the appetizers available, in addition to salads, soups, specialty sandwiches, and entrees. Visitors can enjoy looking at Pebble Beach sports memorabilia and views of The Links at Spanish Bay while eating breakfast, lunch or dinner there. Information: 647-7470.
Traps at The Inn at Spanish Bay
This cozy fireside lounge isn't strictly a restaurant, but does offer a bar menu for dinner and late-night supper that includes shrimp, prosciutto with melon, fried calamari and artichokes, carpaccio, cheeses and grilled steak. It's a great place to watch the sun set over the ocean while enjoying a drink and a little nosh. Information: 647-7500.
Roy's at The Inn at Spanish Bay
Internationally known Chef Roy Yamaguchi brings a master's touch to the specialties here, with a Hawaiian-fusion cuisine that is singularly sensational. In addition to sushi and sashimi, appetizers include ginger-onion crab cakes and lobster-shrimp dumplings, topped off with entrees like tosaka-wasabi Hawaiian swordfish, truffle-apple crusted pork loin and garlic honey-mustard beef short ribs. Wines from around the world and the famous hot chocolate raspberry cake add the finishing touches. Roy's also serves breakfast and lunch. Information: 647-7423.
Péppoli at The Inn at Spanish Bay
If Italian food is more your flavor, check out Péppoli, named for the renowned wine estate of vintner Piero Antinori. The Tuscan villa ambiance pairs well with house specialties like pappardelle Bolognese (wild boar ragu),spaghetti alla carbonara and osso bucco. Antinori wine as well as other world-class vintages enhance the meal, prepared under the direction of chef Arturo Moscoso. As with so many of Pebble Beach's restaurants, you'll find lovely views to complete the evening. Péppoli is open for dinner only. Information: 647-7433.
