Three choral groups are performing works by American composer Morten Lauridsen this weekend.

The holiday season continues with concerts throughout the Monterey Peninsula. In last week's column the overview of major concerts included "Christmas with the Camerata Singers" under the direction of John Koza.

The annual program by this excellent local chorus has a large and loyal following. Koza conducts the choristers in Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols," "The Seven Joys of Christmas" by Kirke Mechem and "O magnum mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen, along with other seasonal delights.

Harpist Karen Thielen of the Monterey Symphony will also be featured in this concert.

Performances take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salinas, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Monterey's San Carlos Cathedral. For tickets and more information, call 642-2701 or visit
